Server Problems At The Planet

Just a quick post now my server is back up.

You may have read about problems at The Planet data center, but just in case you haven’t, you can find out what happened below.

The explosion took out 3 walls and was caused by a short in a transformer.  Fortunately, no-one was hurt.

Update: The server seems to be responding extremely slowly on port 80, while all other ports are operating at full speed, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.  Time will tell…

    Frank,

Have you been happy with the hosting service you’re using (other than the explosion. haaa). I’m ready to get a Wordpress blog, and the price seems very reasonable.

    Thank you

Yes.  A couple of people have said they’ve had problems with sites hosted at The Planet, one even said he lived in Texas and thought my sites were slow.  But I find that largely, from here in the UK, it’s been very reasonable.

After my server came back up the other day it was *very* slow at presenting web pages, but as I have a dedicated server I was able to restart Apache after having a bit of a think and realising that might be the problem.  Things then returned to normal.

    ;-)

I've installed KeywordLuv. Enter YourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage.

However, don't take that as I'm inviting you take advantage of my blog for a back link for free. Only those posts that are relevant and contain several paragraphs of relevant content will be approved. A hundred words or so will likely do it if on topic.

My regular readers understand this, but if this is your first visit then you should be aware that this is how most blog owners feel. A "me too" post from someone I don't know or a hastily constructed sentence will get marked as Akismet spam.

So... play the game properly and all will be well. ;)

Thank you.
