Juli:

Here's the thing. I only ever sign up with an email address off one of my own domains.

I only have a spam filter running on my personal email addresses (on one of my own domains, not this one) which only my close personal friends have, and I also use box trapper on my main email address off this domain.

Because I do this, and because I sign up with my own name, I sometimes get personal emails saying something along the lines of:-

"Hi Frank!

Thanks for being on my list, I use SmartDD myself. Would you be interested in a 60% commission to promote my new product instead of the 50% I'm advertising? You can pick up your free copy here..."

My point is, if you're in the game, and people know your name, it's actually to your advantage to use your own name and an email address that is recognisably yours because it's one of your business domains that you're known for.

I have many marketers you would probably know on one or another of my mailing lists.

They all use domains they're known for because they know the advantages of being there.

Without singling you out, the people who use Yahoo etc email addresses are at a distinct disadvantage and always will be.

They'll never be *recognised* as serious about their internet business, even though they may be very serious and work very hard at what they do.

There is NO WAY I'm going to use my business email accounts on my website for newsletter subscriptions, etc. My website email accounts are for my customers, suppliers, etc. -- i.e. directly related to my website.

My "yahoo" address is for newsletters and all the sales pitches that come my way, and I read them on my own time, not my "Company time." It helps me manage my time more effectively, as well as better managing my business/website.
