In case you were wondering about my comments on SSL the other day in my post on Third Party Payment Processing, I see that yesterday The Register ran an article called Thousands hit by AT&T website hack. You can read the full piece on their site, but I bring it up because it lends credibility to what I was saying.
If you process credit card payments yourself, you're going to attract hackers. If AT&T with all their resources can be hacked, what chance do we stand?
Let other specialist companies do the processing, take their fee and deposit the money into your bank account, it just isn't worth the risk of doing it yourself.
